Chester-Le-Street Swimming Club is a competitive
club and the programmes have been designed in order that swimmers will
progress to the highest level possible. Our aim is to prepare swimmers
for progression through the club, from absolute beginners up to the highest
standard. Movement through the various development groups and competitive
training squads has been established to improve swimmer development.
It is appreciated that
swimming is a very committed and dedicated sport. Coaches, swimmers and
parents have to make huge sacrifices in order to achieve success. swimmers
are expected to attend all sessions indicated, although some allowances
have been made for younger swimmers for morning training sessions.
It is worth noting that there is no age limit set against any
of the squads. Any movement of swimmers will be done so in accordance
with the laid down criteria. Exceptions may occur from time to time,
these exceptions can only be agreed by the ‘Head Coach’ after
discussions with the relevant Squad Coach. The Head Coaches decision
is final.
Please notify your coach if you are going to be absent for a while. this
is especially important in competitive squads. I am available on Friday evenings,
poolside, if parents need to discuss any issues regarding their childs
swimming. You can also email me via the club website.
I will endevor to reply to your query as soon as possible.

Competition Procedures 2008 Season
I will be encouraging ALL swimmers
to set themselves clear goals. Don't be afraid to aim HIGH!
You must have goals, if you don't you will never fulfil your potential.
I will be encouraging ALL swimmers
where possible to achieve an IM qualifying time, it's the benchmark event.
Make this one of your goals.
All swimmers who achieve a qualifying time
will swim that event. No swimmer will 'opt out' of swimming a particular event,
unless permission is given by the squad or head coach. The head coach,
where possible must be notified.
swimmers in A squad and B1 will swim the 200IM and 400 freestyle at all
competitions where these events are on the programme (unless they do
not have the qualifying time). They can of course enter other events.
On the notice board you will see most of the necessary qualifying times
for this season. there is also a competition calender on the board and
one the website >> calendar , this is colour coded. I am hoping to compete
in one more graded gala this season, as well as the 'County Graded' which
takes place between September and November 2008.
